Elton & Leon Russell Release First Single
Decca Records is pleased to announce the single release of 'If It Wasn't For Bad' available 24th August on iTunes and all digital retailers. The highly anticipated single is the first to be made available from 'The Union', the collaborative album, to be released 19th October in the U.S. on Decca (25th October 25th in the U.K. on Mercury Records).

'The Union' release dates!
After several hugely successful private media playbacks 'The Union' is scheduled for release on 19th October in the US and 25th October in the UK, with a track being released to radio sometime in August.

Elton Show Postponed!
Elton's concert at the Tucson Convention Center Arena, scheduled for this evening, Wednesday 21st July, has been rescheduled due to Elton’s illness to tomorrow evening, at 8 pm, Thursday, 22nd July.
Elton apologises for the inconvenience caused due to his illness, but doctors assure him he will be fine for tomorrow’s evening performance.

Elton John unveils 'The Union'
Elton had a playback of the new album this past Monday in London..
"It's like Crazy Heart…only without the drink and the drugs," deadpans Sir Elton John when discussing the rise and fall of Leon Russell, his piano playing idol. Introducing The Union, his remarkable new album of duets with Russell, at the Electric Cinema in London's Notting Hill, Elton is in fine form, but is keen to emphasize Russell's impeccable musical credentials. "I don't know why he just fell off the radar," he says, explaining that in the Seventies Russell not only played on a huge variety of Phil Spector records but also wrote anthems such as "A Song For You".
The Union by Elton John and Leon Russell (Universal) is out Monday 25th October.

Elton Set To Release Two Albums!
Elton is set to release two new albums with the first being a double live CD called 'At The Verona Arena' which will be released on 2nd August 2010. The album is a recording of a performance in Italy last summer.
Elton has also confirmed that a brand new studio album, 'The Union', is expected on 19th October 2010. Sixteen tracks are currently being mixed for the follow up to 2006's 'The Captain and the Kid' and it will feature legendary guest performances from Neil Young and Brian Wilson.
Elton says, "I can’t stress enough how significant an influence Leon Russell was on the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. In 1970, when we first went to America and I played the Troubadour, we were obsessed by Leon’s music, and looked up to him as some kind of musical god. On the second night of the Troubadour concerts he was there in the front row, but luckily I didn’t spot him until near the end of the show, otherwise I would have been a nervous wreck." The album’s 16 tracks are being produced by T Bone Burnett.

Elton opened the doors to his Windsor home once again for the annual White Tie and Tiara Ball. As always the money raised from the event will go to the Elton John Aids Foundation.

Hirst artwork for sale at White Tie and Tiara Ball!
A car transformed into an artwork by Damien Hirst is set to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds when it is auctioned off at Elton's White Tie and Tiara Ball this evening.
The candyfloss pink paint-splattered Audi A1 car has been spin painted by Hirst in his Gloucestershire studio and is described as ''fully driveable and road legal''.
Sir Elton said: ''This is one of the most exciting auction items we have ever had for White Tie.''

Elton graced the cover of Parade magazine this past week! Inside the magazine is an interview which Elton discusses his lifestyle, fame and claimed Jesus was a "super-intelligent gay man". Elton also told Parade magazine that Jesus was "compassionate", forgiving", and "understood human problems".

Summer Concert with Billy Joel Cancelled!
Elton said on Friday that the summer leg of his joint concert tour with Billy Joel has been cancelled. "It's not my decision, it's Billy's," Elton said at the Beverly Hills Hotel, during satellite TV interviews to promote the Chicago engagement of 'Billy Elliot'.
"He has decided to take a year off. It doesn't gel with my plans but he's a friend. And as an artist you have to respect his decision."
Elton said he was "bitterly disappointed" not to return to Wrigley. "That's the church."

New Album Update!
Elton and Bernie will return to the studio this month to record a collaborative album with the iconic Leon Russell. Russell who has always been one of Elton’s musical heroes and influences when it comes to piano styling will be featured on a 50/50 basis writing and performing his own material for the project as well as writing with both Bernie and Elton and performing and singing on the pairs own songs.
A marathon writing session in Los Angeles last November saw the trio pen a vast wealth of material that ranges far and wide and covers many musical genres. The sessions will be overseen and produced by Henry (T-Bone) Burnett.

Elton Appearance at EJAF Event!
Elton says he’s back on his feet after being sidelined for the flu and an E.coli bacterial infection.
Elton spoke about his recovery before Monday’s annual benefit for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which honoured former President Bill Clinton and Sharon Stone among others.
"The worst thing about being in the hospital was that, actually, it’s the first time I’ve been in bed for about nine days in the whole of my life, except for maybe when I had my tonsils out," he said. "So, I was all right. I had a good rest; I didn’t expect it. The worst thing was having to cancel shows. I hate that. But I’m back on my feet and I’m bouncing around now."
The event, entitled 'An Enduring Vision', honored Bill Clinton, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Lily Safra and Sharon Stone.
Elton said the current economic crisis makes his work harder, but stressed that the need to continue in the fight against the disease.
"We are in a bad time economically and everybody’s vying for attention … we mustn’t let AIDS get onto the back seat," he said. "It’s very important that it stays in the forefront of our attention because it’s a disease that’s not going away. In fact it’s really increasing in a lot of areas."

Elton is now out of hospital and back home! He is resting and hoping to restart his US tour on 14th November in California with Billy Joel.

Dublin Show Cancelled!
Elton is still not well enough to play the Dublin show tomorrow night and as a result has been cancelled. A suitable date is being sort to reschedule the date for sometime in December along with the other previously cancelled shows.

Liverpool Show Cancelled!
Elton's show at the Echo Arena in Liverpool tomorrow night has been cancelled as Elton is still not well enough to perform. The concert promoters Marshall Arts are trying to reschedule this show along with previously cancelled shows in Sheffield, Newcastle and London for sometime in December. An official announcement will be made soon.

Elton is too unwell to perform at the Wembley show tomorrow night and unfortunately this show has been cancelled. The promoters are trying to reschedule this show for sometime in December as well as the Sheffield and Newcastle shows which were also cancelled at the weekend. The Liverpool show at the moment remains as scheduled for Wednesday 28th October.

Elton wants to adopt baby orphan
Elton has said he wants to adopt a 14-month-old boy from an orphanage in Ukraine who has "stolen his heart". Elton was visiting the country with his Aids foundation and during his visit he performed 'Circle of Life' for the children. At a press conference later he and partner David Furnish, 46, were asked whether they thought of adopting and Sir Elton announced he would like to adopt one of the children, Lev.
He said: "David and I have always talked about adoption, David always wanted to adopt a child and I always said 'no' because I am 62 and I think because of the travelling I do and the life I have, maybe it wouldn't be fair for the child.
"But having seen Lev, I would love to adopt him. I don't know how we do that but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David's heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home. I've changed my mind."
Elton added that the death of Guy Babylon, had also helped change his mind.
"Last week I lost one of my best friends, my keyboard player died of a heart attack at 52. It broke my heart because he was such a genius and so young and has two wonderful children. What better opportunity to replace someone I lost than to replace him with someone I can give a future to".

Guy Babylon Passes Away
It is with sad news that I report Guy Babylon, Elton's long standing keyboard player and arranger, passed away on Wednesday 2nd September in Los Angeles. Guy died suddenly of a heart attack whilst swimming in a pool. He was only 52.
We will be deeply missed by all and I send my sincere sympathy to Guy's family and friends and also to Elton and the band at this very sad time.

The 'Face2Face' show in Albany tonight has been cancelled as Billy Joel has flu like symptoms. This continues the cancellation of the shows in Buffalo and New York at the end of last week. The new dates for the postponed shows will be announced later this week.

Elton's Oscar's Party
Elton hosted the annual Oscar's Party last night in LA to raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation.
The 650 celebrity guests, welcomed by Elton and David Furnish, included actors Kiefer Sutherland and Sharon Stone, model Elle Macpherson and singer Natasha Bedingfield.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and a five-course dinner while they watched the televised Oscars ceremony, followed by an auction and a performance by Elton and R&B star Raphael Saadiq.
Last year Sir Elton's event raised a record 5.1 million dollars (£3.5 million) and he hoped this year's would be as successful. He said: "We need that money because we have to give that money to people who desperately need it."

Summer Picnic show announced for UK!
Elton has announced a special outdoor summer show at the spectacular Holkham Hall on the North Norfolk coast on Sunday 14th June, 2009.
Concert-goers are invited to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy an al fresco evening in the company of the Rocket Man and his amazing band as they perform on the historic cricket ground adjacent to the Hall. In a departure from his normal touring schedule of seated arenas and sports stadia, Captain Fantastic will play in a picnic-style setting with an early show which will finish by 9pm, allowing his audience plenty of time to get home.
Tickets will go on public sale on Friday 19th December 2008 at 9am

Finland show cancelled!
Unfortunately the show in Finland tonight has been cancelled due to Elton suffering from bronchitis and laryngitis. He was suffering with bronchitis at a show at the weekend and the condition has not improved. Due to a busy touring schedule, the show cannot be rescheduled but refunds will be issued.

Eltonography is an amazing collection of nearly 240 photographs from O’Neill’s private archive that spans four decades. Mostly unpublished the photographs will trigger memories, amazement and surprise at the breadth of Sir Elton John’s Life in Pictures. From his infamous and flamboyant costumes to his lavish lifestyle and unforgettable performances this book really does capture the life and times of one of the greatest names in show business.

To coincide with the launch of Eltonography there will be an exhibition by the same name at Proud Galleries in Camden. Situated in Proud’s South Gallery, this exhibition will present a first look at a selection of images from a book that explores the life of one of the most famous men in music, shot by one of the foremost names in photography. New exhibition of Elton photographs!
Eltonography: A Life in Pictures, is the much anticipated exhibition taking place between 24th September to 2nd November. Launching to coincide with the release of the book by the same name, Eltonography shines a light on the private life of a very public icon, Sir Elton John.
This exhibition, the result of a unique relationship between world renowned photographer Terry O’Neill and Sir Elton John, is a document of a partnership that has lasted years. O’Neill has had unprecedented access to the star since his early career and this has resulted in the most amazing collection of Elton John images ever seen.
Chosen from O’Neill’s private archive of thousands this show represents more than a musician or a photographer, it symbolises the relationship between the two. Proud Camden will be premiering this groundbreaking exhibition, which consists mostly of never before images, and at the same time will launch the stunning book.

Orlando Lunch Around The World Event!
Orlando, are you ready for Lunch Around the World?
On September 13, 2008, the City Beautiful will join the fight against AIDS as it hosts its first annual Lunch Around the World event to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The Foundation has enabled over 200,000 people living with HIV/AIDS to be supported through positive people's groups and networks, and Lunch Around the World events are coordinated by dedicated Elton John fans in association with EltonJohn.com.
Orlando's Lunch Around the World 2008 will take place at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Citywalk and will feature a menu of the restaurant's signature dishes. A cocktail reception will kick things off at 6:00p.m., followed by dinner and a Silent Auction at 7:00p.m.

Pianist recorded Elton's music in the style of Bach!
Pianist John Bayless has recorded an new album covering the music of Elton John in the style of Bach! Bayless remains one of the top classical crossover stars in the US — his albums have consistently topped the charts, and he has sold well into the hundreds of thousands. On his new album, Circle of Life, he once again fuses the music of Bach with popular tunes — though this time taking his melodic inspiration from the songs of Elton John.
The juxtapositions are striking. "Your Song" mixes with snippets from the D Major Piano Concerto, "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road" dances with the gigue from Brandenburg Concerto No.5, while "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" becomes a solemn chorale. In each track, Bayless gets to the heart of the song, pairs it with a Bach piece of similar emotional sentiment, and then lets the music flow, often leading to unexpected places.
Bayless’s improvisations never fail to impress, surprise, and move listeners. In Elton John, he has found a sympathetic muse, and the stunning results speak for themselves, sure to pique the interest of fans of either artist

Deluxe album editions released!
Mercury/Universal Records are to re-release 'Elton John' and 'Tumbleweed Connection' as separate remastered 2-CD sets. Each set contains the original album, plus a bonus CD of previously unreleased tracks including demos 'from the vaults' and live BBC sessions. Each set also contains a fantastic CD booklet with extensive new sleeve notes, photos and lyrics.
The two CD albums will be released on the 9th June.

Ed bows out as Elton from 'The One and Only'
Well folks,
Sadly Ed was voted off after a sing off performance against the Cher act. The voting went in Cher's favour by 2 votes.
I got a chance to speak to Ed before the show and he was very excited about his proposed act of 'I'm Still Standing'. I though that his performance was fantastic and he really did well with the vocal work and also the dance performance and mannerism of Elton from the video of the song.
After the show I caught up with Ed to give my congratulations and commiserations and he was fine. He said that he has had a fantastic time in the competition and it was all good. Stephen, David and myself as Elton Superfans were very produc of Ed each week in the competition. We feel that he made amazing progress each week and really owned his performances as Elton, but at the same time giving his own interpretation and aloowing his own personaility to come through with each song.
Ed is a great guy and I wish him and his family all the very best wishes.

Elton performs at Diana Concert
Elton opened the 'Concert for Diana' in front of 63,000 people with a heart felt rendition of 'Your Song'. Elton performed the song solo in front of giant photographs of Diana and was an amazing start to the concert. Elton also closed the show with full band with 'Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting', 'Tiny Dancer' and 'Are You Ready For Love'.

Elton's White Tie and Tiara Ball !
Elton's annual 'White Tie and Tiara Ball' took place last night, raising money for the Elton John Aid Foundation. Elton performed with Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey during the evening's event.
Elton has a different theme each year, and this year decided to re-create Las Vegas in his home.

Elton's Red Piano show at London's 02 Arena!
Elton will play the 02 Arena in London with the Red Piano show on Wednesday 5th September.
Elton said:
“ I’m really pleased to be coming home with this show. The show is all about love. We have so many things thrown at us in our everyday lives that are so upsetting that no one really ever concentrates on the positive things in life – we only read about the horrible things that go on. But you know, I believe in love”.

Ukraine Charity Concert!
Elton will play a free charity concert in Ukraine's main independence square on 16th June.
The show will be broadcast live on the Ukraine 'New Channel' and will be an Aids awareness concert.

Elton John Radio Special!
As a warm up to Elton's show in Carlisle, I was asked to take part in a radio interview for BBC Radio Cumbria! This will be aired as part of Tony James' 3 hour programme celebrating Elton's visit to Cumbria 9pm-midnight on 3rd June. I will add a podcast of the interview after the event!

Red Piano European Shows Cancelled!
Elton's European Red Piano shows have been cancelled due to the promoter unable to guarantee to put on the shows. Elton's management company apologise and are looking into organising a return to each European city very soon.

The show due to take place on 20th May has unfortunately been postponed due to due to technical problems connected with the transportation of equipment. The show will be rescheduled for later in the year.

The Sunday Times Giving List, published as part of the Sunday Times Rich list has listed Elton as Britain's most generous pop star. According to the Sunday Times Giving List, in 2007 Elton gave away 22.4 million pounds, mostly to AIDS charities, children's groups and to the world of music.

Elton nominated for two Ivor Novello Awards!
Elton has been nominated for two Ivor Novello Awards for his superb songwriting talents on a recent hits. I Don't Feel Like Dancin', the international hit song written by Elton and the Scissor Sisters, has been nominated twice for the forthcoming Ivor Novello Awards. The song is nominated in the categories of 'PRS Most Performed Work' and 'International Hit of the Year'.
The 52nd Ivor Novello Awards ceremony will take place at The Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London W1 on Thursday 24th May 2007.

Elton rocks out at Madison Square Gardens with Friends!
Elton amazed the sold-out crowd at MSG with an introduction by Bill Clinton in advance of the show last night. Elton then entered the stage dressed in a black tailcoat to a standing ovation before opening the show with his hit 'Sixty Years On'.
He promised the 20,000-strong audience the special night would resurrect several old songs. Other stars joining Elton on stage were Bernie Taupin, Whoopi Goldberg, and Robin Williams.
I have just seen a sneak preview of the live show in advance of the live internet show and Elton was fantastic! 'Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word' complete with string section was amazing.
During the show Elton said: "I knew I had done 59 shows at Madison Square Garden and I said the only place I want to be is New York City on my 60th birthday."
Later Sir Elton brought the rapturous crowd to its feet with old favourites like Daniel, Rocket Man, Bennie And The Jets and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
He dedicated Something About The Way You Look Tonight to partner David Furnish, thanking him for arranging an "amazing" birthday weekend, which included a star-studded party in Manhattan on Saturday night. "I love you so much," Sir Elton said.
He also paid tribute to John Lennon, who famously joined him on stage at the Garden in November 1974 in what turned out to be former Beatle's last concert performance before his death.!

Elton celebrates in New York Church!
Elton celebrated his 60th birthday last night by gathering 300 friends in a New York church. He was joined by Davis and celebrity pals including Little Britain’s David Walliams and Matt Lucas at the St. John The Divine gothic cathedral in Harlem.

Elton celebrated in his customary glamorous fashion as he hosted a star-studded party for his 60th birthday. Stars including Hugh Grant, Sir Paul McCartney and actress Thandie Newton were among those arriving for the party at the Shoreditch Town Hall in east London.

Elton John: Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits
On the 26th March, Elton releases Rocket Man - The Definitive Hits CD. This will feature eighteen tracks. There will also be a limited edition two-disc set with a bonus DVD featuring five previously
unreleased live tracks from the highly-acclaimed Las Vegas Red Piano show, plus five classic videos spanning the last four decades.
Elton's entire back catalogue of nearly 500 tracks (90 singles and 32 albums) will also be available to download legally from 26th March.
The release of the new CD will coincide with his 60th birthday celebrations with his 60th concert at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York!
In the USA the full concert will be broadcast digitally by MSN. In the UK the concert highlights will be aired as part of a 90-minute special on Thursday 29 March on ITV1 at 9.00 pm.

Elton’s management has joined forces with UK Whizz Kid Entertainment to develop and produce a 120-minute television special, celebrating Elton’s 60th birthday.
The special will be recorded live at Madison Square Garden on March 25. Elton will take the stage to celebrate his 60th birthday while breaking his own record with an unmatched 60th concert at the legendary venue.
In the UK, ITV has commissioned a 90-minute Special which will air in primetime soon after the concert. The programme will cover the concert itself and also include exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Elton’s private birthday party the night before.

Elton is to perform a very special show on his 60th Birthday, 25th March at Madison Square Garden in New York. If you are an Official Rocket Member, you can purchase special Rocket tickets from eltonjohn.com on Friday 19th January, at 10.00am EST (3.00pm UK time), through to Sunday 21st January at 4.00pm EST (9.00pm UK time).

Elton and David spent the holidays in Italy, where they celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary.Both were wed in England on Decembr 21, 2005 – the first day such unions were legal – after more than a dozen years together.The couple spent the festival season in their Venice apartment.
